Indonesia Immigration has updated several visa regulations during this Covid-19 outbreak. Deadline for obtaining visa onshore is extended to 5 October 2020, the information was shared on its official social media yesterday and valid until further notice.
Stay Permits
- Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP) Holders
- Holders of valid ITAP staying in Indonesia can extend your ITAP at the local immigration office.
- Holders of expired ITAP staying in Indonesia must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- The application can be made after your sponsor returns the Immigration Document (ITAP) to the immigration office.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as they are stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- Holders of expired ITAP staying overseas (with valid or expired Multiple Re-Entry Permit/MREP)–this point forward in section 1*, you will be allowed to enter Indonesia by presenting an approval letter from a competent authority to the immigration officer.
- You must apply for a new visa at Embassy or Consulates to enter Indonesia when you are unable to present an approval letter from a competent authority.
- Holders of family reunion ITAP will be allowed to enter Indonesia.
- You must extend your ITAP and MREP at a local immigration office in Indonesia, not after 31 December 2020.
- Temporary Stay Permit (ITAS) Holders
- Holders of valid ITAS staying in Indonesia can extend your ITAS at the local immigration office.
- Holders of expired ITAS staying in Indonesia must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- The application can be made after your sponsor returns the Immigration Document (ITAS) to the immigration office.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- If holders of expired ITAS staying overseas (with valid or expired Multiple Re-Entry Permit/MREP), –this point forward in section 2*, you will be allowed to enter Indonesia by presenting an approval letter from a competent authority to the immigration officer.

- You can extend your ITK until the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia is over/available transports leaving Indonesia/a new visa and stay permits regulation is issued. Each of ITK extension is valid for 30 days.
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visaonline.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- Holders of ITK can apply for a status change to ITAS.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- Holders of Visitor Stay Permit (Multiple-Entry Visitor Visa D212)
- Holders of expired ITK must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- You can extend your ITK until the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia is over/available transports leaving Indonesia/a new visa and stay permits regulation is issued. Each of ITK extension is valid for 30 days.
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- Holders of ITK can apply for a status change to ITAS.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders
- Holders of expired stay permit must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- You can extend your ITK until the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia is over/available transports leaving Indonesia/a new visa and stay permits regulation is issued. Each of ITK extension is valid for 30 days.
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visaonline.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as they are stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- Holders of Visitor Stay Permit (Visa on Arrival)
- Holders of expired ITK must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- You can extend your ITK until the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia is over/available transports leaving Indonesia/a new visa and stay permits regulation is issued. Each of ITK extension is valid for 30 days.
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia,
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local Immigration office, as stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- Holders of Visa Exemption in Indonesia
- Holders of expired ITK must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as stated in the Visa Approval (telex).
- Holders of Crew Visit Entry Permit in Indonesia
- Holders of expired ITK must leave Indonesia and not stay after 5 October 2020, or
- An onshore application can be made for a new Visitor Visa or Temporary Stay Permit on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ without leaving Indonesia.
- Each of your visa and stay permit application requires a sponsor who must meet sponsorship obligations in Indonesia.
- You can collect your new Visa and Stay Permit at the local immigration office, as stated in the Visa Approval (telex),
Visa and Visa Telex
ITK and ITAS Holders with visa telex issued after 1 December 2019, staying in Indonesia,
- You can apply for an ITK or ITAS at the immigration office without leaving Indonesia or apply for a new visa at Indonesian missions overseas.
- Your visa payment receipt is a visa grant notification.
- Visitor Stay Permit or Temporary Stay Permit (with visa telex issued from 1 December 2019 to 22 July 2020) is valid from the date of ITK/ITAS lodgement at immigration offices.
- Visitor Stay Permit or Temporary Stay Permit (with visa telex issued after 1 December 2019 to 22 July 2020) is valid from the date of the visa telex grant.
Simplification of Services and Payments
The Directorate General of Immigration on 24 August 2020 will implement service and payment simplification by combining Visa Approval (telex) and Visa payments when applying for Visa Approval (telex), thus:
- Visa Approval (telex) for Visitor Visa issued through the mechanism as mentioned earlier also applies as a Visitor Stay Permit, so you don’t have to report to the immigration office,
- Visa Approval (telex) for Temporary Stay Visa issued through the mechanism as mentioned earlier can be granted a Temporary Stay Permit after you report at the Immigration Office no later than 7 (seven) working days after the telex is issued.
Visa Approval (telex) issued before 24 August 2020 will continue to be implemented according to the prevailing regulations. You must report to the immigration office no later than 30 days after the Visa Approval (telex) is issued.
