One of Bali’s most famous surf spots, Uluwatu is located at the southernmost tip of the island and is known for its breathtaking cliffs, temple, sunset, and some of the finest waves in the world. Driving time to Uluwatu from the airport is around 30 minutes. Since the breaks at Uluwatu are so technical, only surfers with a high degree of expertise should attempt to ride them. As the monsoons hit, the waves may reach heights of 15 feet, making the ride even more challenging.
Uluwatu spans many separate areas over a distance of around 1.5 kilometers. Just in front of the Suluban cave lies The Peak, the finest right-hand wave on the island. The optimal conditions for this wave are a swell coming from the south and southwest. In the dry season, however, it is best to surf offshore since the waves are often smaller. It’s important to use caution while in the vicinity of dangerous elements including rocky reefs, crowds of people, and high surf. The months of April through October are primetime for a visit.
Almost wherever you go, you can find a surf shop, surf lessons, surfboard rentals, and repair shop. Several surf camps offer reasonable rates and stunning coastal vistas. You may get the best deals on yoga retreats and surfing vacations at some of them.
